Update for the 2020 – 2021 School Year
Due to the uncertainty of COVID19 and to ensure the safety of our members, we will be hosting our conferences online for this upcoming school year. In order to adapt to differences between of school policies on extracurricular activities, students will register and pay individually rather than through their school this year.
Registration Changes
Each school still must have at least five registered members to be considered a chapter. If the chapter does not have at least five members, the students will be added to our “at-large” chapter. Students part of the “at-large” chapter cannot participate in team events. Students cannot pair up with members for team events that are not from the same chapter. Therefore, it is encouraged to still have at least five members per chapter to allow students to participate in team based competitive events.
Each student will register an account with HOSA Canada as outlined in Step 1. With this account, the student can purchase their membership and conference access. Make sure to fill in your school and email correctly on the registration form.
Conference Changes
There will be two conferences for the 2020 – 2021 school year. The first conference will be the Fall Leadership Conference (FLC), held during December 6th – 12th, 2020. Similar to the format of the 2020 SLC, FLC will only have the written component for all the events. No practical component will be examined. Students will have the opportunity to rank themselves among their peers and also to change their event if they don’t like it after the conference. Students will not be eliminated for the Spring Leadership Conference (SLC). The top three and top ten finalists will receive certificates. The finalists will not be qualified for the International Leadership Conference (ILC).
SLC will be May 1st-9th, 2021. Although the conference will be held online in 2021, we will be evaluating the practical component for events via video conferencing. Online workshops hosted by allied healthcare professionals will also be streamed for HOSA conference members. Workshops such as suturing, knot tying, and more are returning this year. Top three finalists will receive a certificate and the opportunity to compete at the International Leadership Conference. Top ten qualifiers will receive a certificate.

Fees
Membership Fee: $45 CAD
Members will have access to US HOSA’s benefits (http://hosa.org/node/26), which include scholarships and shadowing opportunities. In addition, students will get access to resources for every competitive event offered by HOSA Canada through the ACTO (acto.com) platform. Once membership is purchased, an ACTO login will be sent to the email used to register within 7 business days. A five dollar transaction fee is included in this fee.
Conference Fee: $45 CAD
The conference fee covers two conferences: Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) and Spring Leadership Conference (SLC). If students register after FLC, there is no discount for SLC.
FLC allows students to participate in their selected events online without elimination and are able to see how they ranked against their peers. This information provides valuable insight before the SLC which qualifies students for the international competition. Students may also change their event after FLC if they choose to do so. Top three and top ten certificates will also be awarded for FLC.
SLC is the highlight conference for HOSA members.
Combined membership and conference fee: $85 CAD
