Keynote Speaker – Dr. Paul Santerre
Dr. Santerre is a distinguished engineer and researcher in biomaterials design, renowned for his contributions to advancing medical devices and tissue engineering. He leads groundbreaking work in understanding polymer-biodegradation interactions, resulting in over 140 peer-reviewed publications and 325 conference presentations. He is currently a Professor & Baxter Chair in Health Technology & Commercialization at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Santerre’s expertise extends to the commercial realm, with over 59 patents and the founding of Interface Biologics Inc, a biotech start-up focused on medical device coatings. His achievements have been recognized internationally, earning him prestigious fellowships and awards, including the Julia Levy Award and the NSERC Synergy Award for technology transfer.
Dr. Santerre is also the Director of the Health Innovation Hub (H2i) at the University of Toronto. H2i is a campus-based accelerator supporting start-ups that aims to solve problems through innovation and entrepreneurship.
