Mission Statement

The mission of HOSA Canada is to enable future health professionals to become leaders in the healthcare industry through competition, skills training, and leadership development.

About the Organization

HOSA is the largest health science student organization in North America. Founded in 1976 as Health Occupations Students of America, HOSA currently serves over 250,000 active members annually and over 2.5 million alumni. HOSA is one of the largest providers of Career and Technical Education recognized by the US Department of Education.

Established in 2014, HOSA Canada is the largest chartered association of HOSA outside of the USA. For more information on our parent organization, click here. Ever year since its first Spring Leadership Conference (SLC) in 2015, HOSA Canada has organized the largest health science student competition in Canada, with over 7,000 students competing at SLC 2025.

Students join HOSA through the local chapter at their school. As a HOSA member, students are provided with opportunities to learn about specific healthcare careers of interest to them as well as the healthcare industry as a whole by preparing for and competing in one of our 30 unique competitive events.  Some events focus on training students in core technical procedures unique to a particular profession while others are more generalized and develop teamwork, communication and leadership skills. For a full list of our competitive events, click here.

Through HOSA, students are able to meet like-minded individuals while working towards gaining an edge in the highly competitive health science space. At the same time, HOSA enables students who are passionate about health sciences to further develop their skills and grants them the opportunity to gain recognition for their achievements at a national and international level. For many students, training, travelling and competing through HOSA are among the most memorable experiences of their high school careers.

2024-2025 Staff Directory

HOSA Canada is proud to be a student-run organization, led by many of the same high school students who established it or who first became involved as a regular competitor in its early years.
