The 2024 pin design features the official symbols for National Indigenous Peoples’ Day in Canada (albeit adapted to be seen clearly on a small pin). The top design featuring the Midnight Sun represent the Inuit people. The phases of Grandfather Sun throughout the year along with the butterflies which symbolize renewal and transformation represent the First Nations. The sash and the Wild Rose represent the Métis.
The design of the 2023 ILC pin commemorates the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. It features St. Edward’s Crown, which was used by the Queen over the Tudor Crown on her coat of arms and other royal insignia. Adorning the half-wreath is a maple leaf as well as a poppy to signify remembrance.
The 2022 design features the coat of arms of Canada. The three golden lions (top-left) are a heraldic symbol of England, while the red lion rampant within the double border (top-right) is a symbol of Scotland. The harp of Tara (middle-left) is a national symbol of Ireland and the fleur-de-lis (middle-right) is taken from the royal banner of France.
