Overview

We are happy to introduce the bi-weekly health professional workshop series this year! These workshops will occur once every two weeks on Zoom. Students can access these workshops after purchasing both their membership and conference fee. After each workshop, students can ask questions and interact with the lecturers.

In addition to the health professional series, we are happy to announce that we will be doing monthly competitive event workshops as well!

Workshop registration will be through shop.hosacanada.org. Simply go to the Workshops tab and add the upcoming workshop to your cart and checkout.

Bi-Weekly Health Professional Series

Workshops highlighting various disciplines within the healthcare field will be held on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Ex. Paths to Med, Dentistry, Veterinary Science 

These workshops will be held online via Zoom, similar to the SLC 2021 workshops.

Monthly Competitive Event Workshops

Competitive event-specific workshops will be held on a monthly basis

At these sessions you can ask questions, learn tips and tricks, preparation techniques, and engage in group content review

Medical education in Canada – a brief look into Canadian medical schools

Join HOSA Canada for our inaugural seminar session to learn about the different paths to medical school! We’ll cover how to apply, what medical school entails, what a typical day looks like for medical students, and de-mystify some terms you may have heard thrown around. We will have representation from a number of medical schools across Canada to share their stories so come prepared with your best questions!

Healthcare professionals symposium – the possibilities beyond an MD

Are you interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare field? Are you unfamiliar with the breadth of careers available in the healthcare field? HOSA Canada is hosting a healthcare professionals symposium where health care professionals beyond medicine and allied health professionals will be talking about their careers! Professionals such as dentists, social workers, veterinarians, physician assistants and many more will be there to talk about their career pathway, what a day looks like for them, and will answer any questions you have for them. You won’t want to miss out on this unique opportunity, so come prepared to learn and ask questions!

 

Undergraduate programs to medicine – from arts to science to business

Applying to University can be confusing, especially for those interested in pursuing medicine. There are so many paths to medicine but don’t fret, HOSA Canada is hosting a panel to help you learn more about different undergraduate programs that can guide you on your journey to medical school. Join us as we present a panel of students who have completed, or are in the process of completing, a variety of undergraduate programs on their path to medicine, prepared to answer all of your questions.

 

Specialties after medical school – the medicine aspect

Medicine can be readily separated into medicine and surgery, but what does this even mean? Join HOSA Canada for the first part of a two-part series discussing the subspecialties in medicine. We will host various health care professionals to discuss topics such as pediatrics, emergency medicine, family medicine, psychiatry, physiatry, and so much more! Be prepared to learn all about these fields and have your questions answered by the professionals speaking tonight. Specialties after medical school – the surgical aspect

As the second part of our two-part series, this session will touch on the surgical specialties available in medicine. Join us for an informative evening on various surgical professions spanning from general surgery to ophthalmology. Our guest speakers will talk about their day-to-day routine in their medical field and how they got there. Prepare to learn more about their past experiences and education that helped them achieve their goals and profession today. As always, you will get the chance to ask questions at the end, so come prepared.
